What is Streaming Video?

Streaming is a constant and consistent process where the streaming player requests data from a server. The Internet connection that you have affects the quality of the video playback and picture. The faster your connection, the better your streaming video. Unlike a downloaded video clip which can take a long time to save and view, streaming video, once selected, almost instantaneously starts to play. The main advantage is that streaming video gets to the viewer much faster.

In the case of clients connecting from off-campus and using their own personal computers, DoIT cannot guarantee the media reception or the quality of the reception.
