Media Services
DoIT can provide a
variety of streaming media services to the Barry University community,
such as:
- Streaming video / audio;
- PowerPoint presentation broadcasting, and recorded on-demand
playback;
- On-demand MS Producer presentations / instructional videos;
- Broadcasting live events
- Custom applications;
With the
availability of streaming media users will get the following enhancements
in working with electronic media material:
- Users do not have
to wait for media to download completely anymore, but they can simply
"tune in" and receive the media in a stream format;
- A significant improvement
in speed;
- Possibility for
better quality of the media without the expense of greater download
time;
- Intelligent streaming
which adjusts its characteristics to the capabilities of each particular
client;
Streaming media on BarryNet, the internal
network, is free of charge, For Internet streaming there is a charge back
system associated. The fees are minimal and set up to cover our bandwidth

In the case of
clients connecting from off-campus and using personal computers, DoIT
cannot guarantee the media reception or the quality of the reception.
